Wood-fired pizzas and Negronis on tap
Varuni first opened his eponymous pizzeria in Morningside a little more than three years ago, and rumors that he was working on a Krog Street Market expansion surfaced last June. He officially revealed plans for the project in November. Before inking a deal, developer Paces Properties had been looking into a potential Varuni Napoli market stall for quite a while.
The new stall’s menu is a scaled-back version of what is offered at the Morningside original. Diners will fine selections of red and white pizzas, plus build-your-own options with margherita or blanca as the foundation. The vegetarian “Partenope” pie, named after an 18th-century opera written by George Frideric Handel, will change with the seasons. It will debut with fresh mozzarella, fresh basil pesto, roasted artichokes, roasted peppers, mushrooms, and Pecorino Romano, and the fall-winter version will be topped with burrata, fresh mozzarella, Datterini tomatoes, roasted mushrooms, Pecorino Romano, and black truffle oil.
Beverages will include a tight list of beer and wine, as well as a Negroni Reserva on tap. Varuni says his two restaurants will be the only in Atlanta to offer this cocktail on tap.
Varuni Napoli Krog Street Market will operate Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Take a look at the menu and images of the stall below.
