On track to debut later this year
Neapolitan pizzeria The Local Pizzaiolo and Casi Cielo, an upscale Mexican restaurant, will set up shop in Sandy Springs at the forthcoming Modera by Mill Creek mixed-use development. Both restaurants are scheduled to open at 6125 Roswell Road in late 2017.
The Local Pizzaiolo is an emerging chain that is planning to open four restaurants across Atlanta, including one in the Westside space that previously housed Bellwoods Social House. Giulio Adriani, who boasts the title of “four-time World Neapolitan Pizza Making Champion and master pizzaiolo,” created the brand, and his restaurants will serve Neapolitan-style pies and craft cocktails on tap. The Sandy Springs outpost will also include an Italian market offering ingredients such as olive oil, tomatoes, and truffle honey.
Casi Cielo, which translates to “almost heaven” in Spanish, comes from the company behind La Parilla, a chain with several locations across the Atlanta area. This new venture will highlight cuisines from regions across Mexico with a selection of shared plates, tacos, and enchiladas. The restaurant’s signature dish will be arroz al carbon, a large plate of rice cooked on a charcoal oven and paired with meats and vegetables (similar to Spanish paella).
In addition to the Sandy Springs project, Mill Creek is opening a Modera in Midtown. Among the amenities at this mixed-use development will be Momonoki, a new Japanese restaurant from the team behind Decatur’s Brush Sushi Izakaya. Like the Sandy Springs restaurants, it’s on track to open toward the end of this year.
