More Details on Co, the ‘Modern Southeast Asian’ Restaurant Planned for Poncey-Highland

It’s opening at the 675 N. Highland development

Poncey-Highland’s 675 N. Highland mixed-use development will soon see its second restaurant opening. Charleston-based chain Co is setting up shop in the 6000 unit at the development, where it will serve “modern Southeast Asian cuisine.” Co is on track to open in May. A few more details:

  • Masanori Shiraishi is Co’s executive chef. A native of Japan, Shiraishi’s menus are built around family recipes and staples of various Southeast Asian cultures, according to a press release.
  • The menus vary at individual Co restaurants. In Atlanta, look for dishes such as curry laksa (shrimp, shredded chicken, bun rice noodles, shredded cucumber, Thai basil, baby bok choy, spicy coconut broth), banh mi (sautéed lemongrass and garlic), and beef pho (rare beef, rice vermicelli, bean sprouts, cilantro, Thai basil, scallions, hoisin, Sriracha).
  • The bar will pour bottled sake, housemade infused sake, and boba tea. Cocktails will be mixed up with food pairings in mind.
  • Design elements include the ubiquitous exposed brick and reclaimed wood. In addition to an open dining room, al fresco seating will be available on a patio that looks out at North Highland Avenue.

The first Co opened in Charleston in 2012. Founder Greg Bauer has since expanded his restaurant to Charlotte, Myrtle Beach, and Savannah. Regular hours weren’t immediately available, but the Atlanta outpost will serve lunch and dinner.

Co’s arrival at 675 N. Highland follows that of Rize Artisan Pizza, which opened at the development in November 2016.
