A cat cafe is coming soon to Grant Park
The long-anticipated Java Cats Cafe is about a whisker away from opening. Owner Hadyn Hilton posted on Instagram Tuesday evening and declared the incoming cat cafe will begin service “within the next two weeks.”
Java Cats is taking over a Grant Park space at 415 Memorial Drive SE, Suite C, adjacent to Tin Lizzy’s Cantina and just down the street from the Jane development that houses Octane Coffee + Little Tart Bakeshop and Six Feet Under.
The cat cafe, first announced in May 2016, is partnering with Paws Atlanta to foster up to 20 felines at a time in the cafe’s "cat room" — should any patron fall in love on a visit, all of the cats will be adoptable. The Gathering, part of a non-profit organization that offers homeless individuals a path to success through training in the culinary arts, will provide prepared food items. Hilton has been honing her barista skills at Downtown’s Ebrik Coffee Room, which is on board as Java Cats’s java provider.
After six months of @ebrikcoffeeroom pouring into me and training me, it's officially time to OPEN Java Cats y'all! We will open doors within the next few weeks! I'm so grateful for the time spent learning about coffee, lattes 101, and how to run a coffee shop. I can't speak highly enough about my Ebrik family, but if there's one thing I want people to know- if they already don't- not only is Ebrik the best coffee shop in Atlanta, the people who run this place are even better. Love and will miss seeing your faces. Come see me and my cats!
