Say it ain’t so
Nick’s Food To Go has been serving gyros and falafel just off of Memorial Drive for almost a quarter-century, but the end may be near. A developer is looking to erect a mixed-use project on the property that houses Nick’s, and the take-out restaurant could be forced to close, reports Curbed Atlanta.
Landlord John Milton Azar is in the process of selling the building, according to Curbed. Azar previously operated an eponymous liquor store nearby before selling that business to make way for another mixed-use development.
Reached by phone, a manager at Nick’s tells Eater Atlanta the restaurant’s future is unclear: “We’re not sure what’s going on. We heard that the factory next to us got sold, but we don’t have any definite answers about when and if we’re closing.” In the meantime, the manager says Nick’s will be operating business as usual.
Curbed reports the adjacent factory — Conklin Metal Industries — is indeed part of the deal.
Nick’s first opened at 240 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. in 1994. Namesake Nick Poulos retired in 2014, leaving his wife Eleni and daughter Evie to run the business.
