WESTVIEWGreens and Gravy, from chef-owner Darius Williams, is on track to debut on Saturday, June 17, at 1540 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard. Williams, a cookbook author, YouTube chef, and host of a traveling supper club, will serve modern soul food such as crab cake deviled eggs, chicken and biscuits on a stick, collard green lasagna, and smoked gouda grits.

Greens and Gravy will take Mondays off and serve dinner Tuesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Weekend brunch will be available Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

BUCKHEAD — Philadelphia-based Sweet Charlie’s will begin dishing out hand-rolled ice cream at 3872 Roswell Road on Thursday, June 8. The ice cream shop currently has four locations in Philadelphia; Ocean City, New Jersey; and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, making the Atlanta outpost its first venture into the South. Virginia-Highland resident John Martin is the local franchisee.

Sweet Charlie’s serves ice cream, non-fat yogurt, and a vegan “nada-moo” option, all of which are frozen on a super-chilled surface and scraped off into a rolled, frozen dessert. An assortment of toppings will be available, and rolls will be served in cups or on a warm Sublime doughnuts. The shop plans to operate seven days a week from noon to 10 p.m.

MIDTOWN — Jackson, Mississippi-based Babalu Tapas & Tacos is planning to open its first Atlanta location at 33 Peachtree Place in Midtown by the end of June. The restaurant will serve a long menu of appetizers, tapas, tacos, tortas, soups, salads, sides, and desserts. And, perhaps in an effort to add some entertainment to the dining experience, guacamole will be prepared tableside. At the bar, diners can expect house cocktails that include an extensive list of variations on the classic margarita.

Babalu is looking to staff up its forthcoming Atlanta location. The Midtown restaurant will be the chain’s seventh, following the Jackson original and outposts across the South in Memphis, East Memphis, Birmingham, Knoxville, and Charlotte.
