Scenes from the first half of Super Bowl LI

Atlantans packed into sports bars across the city to support the Falcons in Super Bowl LI Sunday night. For a while, things were great. The Falcons raced out to a big halftime lead and extended the advantage in the third quarter. It looked like Atlanta would be getting its first major sports championship since the Braves won the World Series in 1995. Then — well, no, there’s no need to discuss what happened next.

At Stats, a capacity crowd of 500 people donned their red and black and showed up to watch the game on 70 televisions. Before quarterback Tom Brady and the New England Patriots staged an unprecedented Super Bowl rally, there was much to celebrate, and patrons went appropriately bonkers. Take a look at the photos below to relive all the revelry that occurred during the first half, and maybe try to forget about that fourth quarter and overtime.
