A ‘Latin-Inspired Brasserie’ Is Planned for an Incoming BeltLine Development

Heads up, Poncey-Highland

BeltLine-fueled development can’t stop, won’t stop. In September, former Stone Brewing Co. brewmaster Mitch Steele announced plans for a new project adjacent to the Eastside Trail in Poncey-Highland. Turns out, it’s going to be part of a much bigger development that will bring in, among other things, a “Latin-inspired brasserie,” according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

Developers from local firms Third & Urban and Trillium Management are reportedly taking over the former Western Electric building, which covers 85,000 square feet at 820 Ralph McGill Blvd. Locally based architecture firm ai3 will handle the design. The building is currently home to Concentrics Restaurants’ Two Urban Licks, which will remain open as part of the redevelopment.

There aren’t many details on the forthcoming brasserie, though the ABC says it will be operated by “The Diligence Co., a hospitality concept.” It will come with “a selection of merchants offering high-quality food and non-food products.”

Steele departed Stone in June after 10 years with the award-winning California brewery. When he revealed plans for his forthcoming Atlanta project, a craft brewery and brewpub with a rooftop bar beer garden, he called it “a bucket list thing.”

“An opportunity like this may not ever come again, and it was something that — I thought if I didn’t give this a shot, I’d regret it the rest of my life,” Steele said.

The ABC reports the development will have 23,000 square feet of leftover space not used by Steele, The Diligence Co., or Two Urban Licks. It will be marketed for “office, retail, or entertainment uses.”
